To book a mini or not to book a mini-is that the question?

Mini Me or Maxi Moment: Choosing the Perfect Photo Session Length

So you've decided to invest in some professional photos – yay! But with photographers (including me) often offering both mini and full session options, you might be wondering: which is right for me?

Don't worry, I’m here to break down the key differences between mini and full sessions, so you can capture those moments perfectly.

The Mini Marvel: Quick & Cute

  • Time: Think fast and fabulous! Mini sessions typically last around 15 minutes.

  • Images: You'll receive a smaller collection of edited photos to choose from. I’ve found that my favorite images may not always be the clients favorite images, so I let you choose. The watermarked gallery you choose from is smaller. And the session comes with fewer final images.

  • Location & Vibe: I pick the sets, location, theme and date for mini sessions. Think holiday card-ready setups or some of the gorgeous scenic backgrounds that syracuse, ny has to offer.
Mini sessions are scheduled back to back with other families. I usually do mini sessions once a month.

  • Perfect For: Busy families on the go, holiday cards, or wanting a few good photos for the walls.

  • Not the best choice if: Your littles have lots of stranger danger and need time to warm up. I do give myself a few minutes between every session but to be fair to all the families booked- the time limit really is the time limit. It’s rarely an issue but you know your kiddos best. If you think they may need more time, consider booking two minis back to back or send me a message to book a full session if the theme that is offered is one that you love!

  • Experiences: I work really hard to come up with new ideas, new locations and to make alot of the mini sessions an experience.
Of course- there will always be the traditional holiday card mini in the studio. But most of the mini sessions are planned around making it really fun for your families.
Whether it’s a trip to the flower field, running through the lavender, petting the coolest highland cows you’ve ever met, or chasing a waterfall.

The Maxi Moment: In-Depth & Immersive

  • Time: Breathe and relax – full sessions typically last 45 minutes to an hour (or more!).

  • Images: You'll walk away with a wider variety of edited photos and a larger gallery to choose from.

  • Location & Vibe: This is where you get to shine! You'll have more flexibility in choosing the date, time, and location for your shoot.

  • Perfect For: anything really! We get to take our time and I really get to capture all the details of your story.

So, Mini or Maxi? Let's Decide!

Here's a quick cheat sheet to help you pick your perfect session:

  • Go Mini If: You're short on time and want to stretch your budget, want a specific seasonal theme, or just need a handful of updated photos.

  • Go Maxi If: You crave creative freedom, have a special occasion to commemorate, or want a more relaxed and personalized experience with a larger collection of images.
